National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) is a leading advocacy organization working toward promoting the rights of persons with disabilities in the country. NCPEDP has succeeded in bringing about several policy changes concerning disability. For more information, please visit our website at www.ncpedp.org.

About Project:

Disability affects over one billion people globally, with projections indicating that two billion people will need at least one assistive product by 2030. The United Nations estimates that about 10% of the global population experiences disability, making them one of society’s most marginalized groups. Although many assistive technologies (ATs) exist to aid education and social participation, their use in India is minimal due to a lack of awareness, professional assistance, and accessibility. Currently, only 10% of those in need have access to assistive products like wheelchairs, hearing aids, and prosthetic devices.

The Assistive Technologies Hub project of NCPEDP aims at creating a hub that serve as a center of excellence for research, innovation, and all matters related to assistive technologies. It will nurture innovators (individuals and organizations) who are developing technologies for people with disabilities and facilitate collaboration among various stakeholders within the assistive technologies’ ecosystem in the country. These collaborations will help to advance innovative technologies and improve access for those in need.
