National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP)
India’s Leading Cross - Disability Advocacy Organisation
National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) is a cross-disability, non-profit organization, working as an interface between the Government, Industry, International Agencies, and the Voluntary Sector towards empowerment of persons with disabilities.
NCPEDP advocates for the need to move away from traditionally held views of charity and welfare to those of productivity and enabling of disabled people.
Registered in 1996, NCPEDP has since then, successfully advocated several policy changes that have positively impacted the lives of people with disabilities, working across to encourage employment of disabled people; increase public awareness on the issue of disability; empower disabled people with knowledge, information and opportunities; and ensure easy and convenient access to all public places, products, services and technologies.
"Raising consciousness about disabilities."
We believe that political advocacy is a critical part of the struggle of the disability movement. Countless letters, awareness generation campaigns, and recognition of efforts of success in the disability endeavour have been crucial measures in becoming a watchdog organization.
We partner with institutions, policymakers, and disability activists to advocate for basic rights; make certain that stakeholders are held accountable; and ensure disability is mainstreamed in the development agenda, while upholding the slogan “Nothing About Us Without Us”.

"Using evidence to bring change at various levels."
We ask questions. Questions that seek answers to what should have been burning issues in the disability realm.
Working closely with experienced researchers and advocacy experts, NCPEDP has targeted each of its 6 core pillars, to ask the questions no one was asking, seek the answers to generate appropriate intervention strategies, and create new and innovative tools to advance the rights of persons with disabilities.
"Recognizing effort, highlighting stories of change."
Awards are not meant to acknowledge success, but rather recognize the many other qualities: ability, struggle, effort and excellence. At the same time, in highlighting excellence, one also recognizes the current situation, its deficiencies, and charts the road ahead as inspiration for the future.
NCPEDP recognizes the exceptional contribution by individuals and organizations in actively promoting employment and accessibility for people with disabilities, with the hope that awardees become brand ambassadors for the cause and take the momentum forward.
