NCPEDP-Javed Abidi Fellowship on Disability

Description

This is a three year immersive leadership development programme for youth with disabilities and youth without disabilities having a keen interest in disability issues with a focus on policy and practice and looking to build a career in the field of human rights particularly disability rights, and diversity and inclusion.

Goal

Through this initiative, we envision developing a second line of leadership for the Indian disability movement with in-depth grassroots knowledge and hands-on experience of urban and rural realities in matters of evidence-based policy analysis. The programme further seeks to create groundbreaking opportunities to ideate, iterate and intervene directly with stakeholders resonating further the ethos of the disability movement in an entrepreneurial environment.

What we are Doing

The three year fellowship programme will cater to the curated needs of selected fellows in terms of multi-faceted experience required to create viable ideas bearing the potential of tangible impact in the Disability sector. It has been designed in a way to nurture fellows in terms of training, capacity building, networking and gaining hands on ground experience with policymakers and relevant stakeholders on advocacy issues to augment their ideas to its zenith through mentorship and the National Disability Network.

Our Impact

Our fellowship programme intends to engineer social entrepreneurship amongst and guide 25 fellows in contributing evidence based collection of advocacy efforts, experience and effects to the cause of disability in a pluralistic manner.
