The DNIS Blog is a platform dedicated to amplifying the authentic perspectives of disabled writers and those working closely on disability focused issues. We invite you to send us your pitch because your words and experiences have immense power and we want to help you share them. Our editorial focus is on cross-sector disability issues, new insights, and lessons from real-world practice. DNIS covers a wide range of sectors and themes, and our content comes in different formats: text, video, image, and audio. 

Due to the high number of submissions we receive, it takes us up to two to three weeks to respond to content that you send in.

What we cover

We encourage you to share write-ups on the themes of Education; Employment; Access; Policy and Law; Awareness; Innovation;  Youth involvement in the sector of disability; and the affecting domains of gender, politics, healthcare, nutrition, well-being, and societal perception, etc. 

Who can write

Anyone who is a person with disability or closely working on disability issues can write for DNIS. We’re seeking op-eds, creative nonfiction, personal essays, interviews,  reported and investigative articles, and short fiction on disability, with an emphasis on disability rights and justice.We also welcome supported storytelling, meaning that a disabled person who is unable to write can work with someone else to share their story in a different format. We are not looking for experience or expertise in any area, but fresh perspectives from the field.

How to submit

Please send in your entries at dnis@ncpedp.org, The article draft should be no longer than 1,200 words. Make sure to include your personal details:

  • Full name
  • An 80-word bio and a headshot/photograph of you (the author)
  • Location (district and state)

Please note we do not publish pieces that come across as promotional or that do not include citations where ideas, statistics and statements have been borrowed from elsewhere.

We are a nonprofit organisation and rely on grant funding to support our work, as a result of which we are not able to pay for photographs at this time. However, in addition to assigning photo and author credit and linking to your website, we also add a line of text that shares a little information about you or your organisation. As one of the biggest cross disability organisation in India,NCPEDP – DNIS provides an opportunity for greater visibility to both individuals and organisations.
