Cummins India Limited: Coming together

A group that works together, succeeds together. It is this belief that led the management at Cummins India Limited, manufacturers of diesel engines and generator sets, to view its activities as a community.

Cummins India Limited was incorporated in Pune in 1962 for the production of power generation, industrial and marine applications. The past 40 years have seen the company broaden its scope, including its efforts at helping disabled persons. Today, the total number of disabled employees is 22.

Cummins India Limited's endeavour has not gone unnoticed. The Government of India has conferred on it the National Award for the Welfare of people with Disabilities. This gave the company a further shot in the arm to follow its philosophy: “To improve society, in which we live and operate.”

In this pursuit of excellence, the company ensured that its goals converged to meet its objectives, as responsible corporate citizens. This social consciousness laid the foundation for several other initiatives too, including the Cummins India Foundation (C.I.F.), that gives back to society what it initially gained from it by focussing on Human Welfare and Environment Protection. C.I.F. concentrates on education, environment protection and renewable energy.

So, as Cummins India Limited progresses and prospers, it never forgets the community from which it draws its resources. Cummins India Limited has integrated its activities and stands out in the corporate world as a symbol of renewal and rejuvenation.
